Taggart is Back - Exclusive & 1st to STV

Taggart’s back! Well, not exactly. Attempts to bring the late Mark McManus, the original Inspector Taggart of Maryhill CID back to life, have proved in vain. Instead, the longest running cop show in the world returns for an all new six episode series exclusively for viewers of STV at the beginning of October. 

With new writers and directors and a new producer, this will be the first series co-produced by STV with ITV, as opposed to being simply a commission from ITV. This has given STV more input into the production and enabled the company to make some subtle changes to the winning formula.

Blythe Duff, Alex Norton and John Michie return as DS Reid, DI Burke and DS Ross. They will be joined by host of new stars and some new regular characters, including well known English actor Reece Dinsdale making a guest appearance in the first new episode, known to Taggartdevotees as Episode 104.

To celebrate this major television event, STV is planning a massive launch promotion which will start to appear all over Scotland this weekend from poster sites to railway stations. stv.tv will unveil an all new Taggart website on September 30 with interviews with all the key people and many new features. There are some unusual publicity stunts. Glaswegians, in particular, should keep a close eye on the STV building by the Clyde on Tuesday September 28th, as it turns into a crime scene.
